The Best ACT® Science Strategies: Tried and Tested

What are the best strategies for the Science on the ACT® Test? I’m an expert tutor with nearly a decade of experience helping high school students reach their dreams and increase their standardized test scores. These are the strategies I’ve proven have helped my students on the Science Test.
The ACT® Science doesn’t have many strategies, but I do want to advise students so they don’t overapply strategies from previous sections to the Science.
Passage Order
You can and should do the ACT® Science in order for the most part. The only exception might be if there’s a reading-type passage, you can consider saving it for the end. That sort of passage can be a little harder for some students. But make sure you come back to do it.
Question Order
Unlike on the ACT® Reading Test, you should answer all questions in order on the Science Test. The questions build on each other in a numerical, increasing order. So question 7 will help you answer question 8, question 8 will help with question 9, and so on.
There are some exceptions to this rule, but for the most part it holds. Use your best discretion, and you’ll do well.
